Just added Woven to my list! I recently started volunteering in the Sunday school classroom for 1st-3rd graders, so thinking through how to talk to kids about God (in a way that isn't fear-based, like how I was taught) is very much on my mind these days.

I think Woven will be helpful for you! Glad you are doing that work for yourself and those kids!

I realize I'm late to the party, but I'm a little behind in my substack reading...

This Is Happiness, Niall Williams | 4.5/5⭐️s

Excellent novel set in fictional town in Ireland about a young man's coming of age in relation to a traveling worker.

The Memory of Old Jack, Wendell Berry | 4/5⭐️s

I'm 3 books into Port William and loving it. This one traces Old Jack's life through a series of flashback type stories, each involving a specific member of the town.

Black in Blues, Imani Perry | 2/5⭐️s

Expected more about music in this one and for me it just did not deliver. Others probably have a different view, but this one was difficult for me.

Let the Great World Spin, Colum McCann | 4/5⭐️s

Another book where each chapter is told from a different person's point of view, with the common thread being a man walking on a tight rope between the WTC towers.

Raising Hare, Chloe Dalton | 4/5⭐️s

Fascinating memoir about a journalist's experience essentially raising a wild hare in her home and on her land.
