For a month that was crowded and crammed and crazy, I read a lot, probably as a form of self-care. As we roll into a summer rhythm,1 I’m attempting to finish up a few longer works that I’m dawdled over lately so that I can tackle some new stuff.2 I made a stack of summer reading but have obviously only included the books that are at the house. One of my summer goals is to take the kids to the library a lot, so I’m sure I’ll pick up extra books there. That’s what the library is for, after all.
I should point out, as I talk about novels that I love, that I love a character-driven novel. That’s why you’ll see I liked The Marriage Portrait better than Artemis. I recommended The Marriage Portrait to a friend who reads voraciously and she barely made it through. She likes plot-driven books. Know yourself and also know what I’ll give rave reviews.
