Lisa, good morning! I'm heading out to the porch and putting my feet up with Becoming the Pastor's Wife today. I can't wait to settle in with her ... and a cup of tea.

I've recently been reading The Upside Down Kingdom by Donald Kraybill which has given me more context for the social/political climate Jesus came into which has been quite exciting!

I've taken some recommendations from your list I'm looking forward to exploring more, thank you! :)

Okay, I’m going to start calling it the discipline of the library browse, too. My libraries have a new section I browse, but will also put books on a shelf every few weeks for different themes that include “staff picks.” I love perusing these human algorithms to find new non-Christian books to read.

I love staff picks so much! I want to read widely and this practice is really helping me. It sounds like it has been meaningful for you as well and I love that.

Most of the research presented is not new to me. It’s fascinating to see him grapple with the implications of it all and come to the conclusion that we are spiritually degraded, though he is an atheist.

I did not realize that he was an atheist. That is fascinating.

Yeah, his list of practical solutions is very formed around the very things that form a Christian life and community. He recognizes this openly, sort of indicating that religious communities have the solution that society needs, though he does not share their beliefs. So interesting.
