this is so good, Lisa!

I think my favorite was “stop worrying about what women say on podcasts and start with the men who are abusing their congregations!”

I just can't take him seriously until that happens.

Definitely read, "As I get older, I try to let go of things that are enraging if I can cannot affect them in any way," and thought you said, "cannot afford them," and thought, ain't that the truth. I can't afford to let this stuff take over my headspace in the way they used to. I won't let it.

Amen. I completely agree.

Like you, our family has tried the SBC, and while I believe there are good *individuals* within those churches, we simply couldn't turn a blind eye to how the highest levels of leadership handles themselves and the way they govern the denomination. As someone who didn't grow up in SBC spaces, it's shocking (and saddening) for me to learn how pervasive it all is--especially where we live.

There are so many things the Christians needs to unify around and get to work on to help this broken world. And here the American church is, squabbling about whether women should help in that work or not. *sigh*

Yes, it's so hard to continue participating in that, especially when your money goes to the denomination as well.

Amen and amen and amen.

“But do you want large kids’ program or do you want your sons and daughters to grow up knowing that women have a voice in the kingdom of God?”

🔥 Thank you for this.
